Bey thinks it’s smarter that Bud is lighter from 165 to 168 on fight night. He says Crawford should fight at about the same weight as the AT weight.

Heavyness doesn’t give Crawford any more power than what he had on the 154 or 147. In many cases, you cannot add muscle, especially if the fighter is in a hurry during one training camp. Adding extra muscle is the only time the power has been improved when the fighter is riding a PED, like a steroid designed to create strength.

Crawford’s ideal weight

“In my opinion, I don’t get heavy. I’ll come to the same weight in 165 for the fight. 165 or 168,” said trainer Mickey Bay. Millcity Boxing He was asked which weight Terrence Crawford should stay hydrated for his battle with unified super middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez on September 13th.

Crawford already appears to be stuffing him with many pounds, and it appears to be much bigger than he was for his final fight. Training camp has clearly not started. So, perhaps Crawford will trim, but it doesn’t look like he will. He hopes he can match Alvarez in the size category.

“He doesn’t need to hydrate a lot. He needs to stay where he is. Why does he need to rehydrate a lot when he’s already moving up?” Bay said of Crawford. “I’m talking in the best form of fighting. Yeah, he can put heavy. I’m saying Crawford should be under 170 or 170 in the ring.”

Crawford will slow down if he hydrates over 180 pounds after gaining weight for the Battle of Canelo, which will work against his ability to move around the ring. The best thing Terrence does for him is his speed and mobility. If he was bulging up until the 180s, he would sacrifice much of it.

Fighting the weight of the night

“Even if he feels good to sparr multiple times, it’s something I get in. 168-171, I stay within that range. That’s the only factor and he’s never too late.

“So he can go in anything like Floyd of 154. With Crawford, when he’s in top shape, he’s probably going to be camping in the 160s. So he might stay there.
