Microsoft accidentally replaces Windows 11 boot sound with Vista Chime

Microsoft carries users easily this week, 2007 when the company was accidentally replaced The familiar startup chime for Windows 11 in Iconic Windows Vista Boot Sound.

The mixup appeared in the recent Windows 11 Insider preview builds of the DEV channel. Users who rebooted the system found themselves greeted by Vista’s clear (and now nostalgic) startup sound, instead of the latest Windows 11 tone.

Microsoft has been around since then I admitted the problemCalling it an unintended change and checking it will be fixed in future updates.

“This week’s flight has had a fun explosion from the past, playing Windows Vista Boot Sound instead of Windows 11 boot sound,” the Windows Insider team wrote. I’ll release a note For the latest DEV channel builds.

The Switch was a coincidence, but Vista’s short return of audio cues caused curiosity and nostalgia online, with some users even fondling retro talent. But for now, the normal startup sound of Windows 11 will soon be coming back, so Vista’s comeback appears to be limited to this short cameo.
