New York Mets Star closer Edwindias suffered a major injury in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, but does not stop him from playing in the 2026 International Tournament.
Diaz, 31, was injured in celebrating Team Puerto Rico’s victory over the Dominican Republic. He tore his patellar tendon with his right knee, missing the entire season.

“I didn’t hurt pitching,” Diaz went via New York Post last week. “That can happen anywhere and anywhere. If I was pitching, I’d be a little scared (back).”

Diaz wasn’t completely committed to playing in Puerto Rico, but he said he was open to it.
“For now, I will play if I have the opportunity to play. I will play to represent my country,” Diaz said.

Three All Stars He said that if he hurt pitching, he might see performances differently in world baseball classics.
“But I just want to go there and have fun on behalf of my country,” Diaz said.
Diaz’s Mets teammate, Star Shortstop Francisco Lindor, I also played for Team Puerto Rico. Diaz said he would like to play again with Lindor if he had the chance to play for Puerto Rico.

Diaz has made the Mets right out this season, creating a National League All-Star team. In 40 games this season, Diaz scored a 1.55 ERA with a 5-0 record and 21 saves.
