MLB News: The judge hit on line drive at scary moments in Mets-Twins game
Referee Hunter Wendelstet was hit in the head by a foul ball during the New York Mets’ seventh innings –Minnesota Twins Wednesday’s game.
Wendelstet, 53, was 1 base when Tyrone Taylor slashed a line drive to foul territory. He tried to get out of the way, but the ball slammed him from the side of his head.
Wendelstead quickly got off. Mets’ base coach Antoan Richardson desperately signaled to the twin dugout to seek medical attention. The twin athletic trainer had a tendency towards him while he lay on the ground.

Wendelstead stayed for about a minute or two before leaving the field with the help of twin athletic trainers while the towel was held in his head.
After Wendelstedt left the field, the game resumed with only three referees.
“I don’t know if I’ve never seen it happen,” Mets announcer Gary Cohen said.

Taylor grounded 3 base when AT-AT resumed.
Wendelstead is the son of Harry Wendelstead Jr., who umpireed for 33 seasons from 1966 to 1998.
Hunter Wendelstead is umpire MLB Games He has been refereeing in one All-Star Game (2011) and the World Series (2014) since 1998.

Wednesday’s game between the Mets and the Twins is the last game in the three-game series. The Mets won 5-1 on Monday, and the twins set up a rubber match with a 6-3 win on Tuesday.
At the time of this writing, the twins and Mets are tied 3-3 at the bottom of eight innings.
