In its latest program on CNBC, Dan Niles, founder of Niles Investment Management, reiterated concerns about slowing AI spending, saying that major technology companies are already facing the impact of industry downbeat trends before the tariff war begins.

“When Mag 7 reported the December quarter or Calendar Q4, six out of seven people have already cut their March revenue estimates. So when the Fed is cut like last year, when no one cares, if the stocks are up, will the chart look good?” Niles said. “Stocks are high so we look forward to it and hope that all estimates will collapse again in the June quarter. When these companies reported the March quarter and when they reported the December quarter before all this tariffs were kicked, they were already in trouble.”

Niles said the companies were buying ahead of Chinese tariffs because they expected US obligations to come.

“All China can already see exports rose 12.4% over the entire month of March. People were expecting 4.6%. That’s a massive beat.
