Neto’s goal shows “aura” at the 2025 Club World Cup… before James suffered from “shock”

Pedro Neto left the marker on the floor with an eye-opening run and scored Chelsea’s first goal at the 2025 Club World Cup in Atlanta on Monday in an opener against Los Angeles FC.

Portuguese winger Neto surged into Nicholas Jackson’s perceptual path on the right channel, entering the box and creating a beautiful Cruyff turn to throw marker Ryan Hollingshead from balance.

The £54 million signature before the start of last season coolly fired Tottenham legend Hugo Rollosith at goalkeeper near post, giving dominant Chelsea a stylish lead in the 34th minute at Hard Rock Stadium.

Pedro Neto Goal vs LAFC: “Real Quality”

“You own it, I think you’re fine, you’re open and you’re overconfident,” former Tottenham and Manchester City midfielder Michael Brown told Channel 5, analysing the MLS side’s set-off.

“(Marc) Cucurella nicked it, and the ball in the back is important.

“The touch is perfect, he’s conscious… he celebrates with a really high quality finish. He has a real aura of his play and the finish tells him everything about what he has.”

Chelsea vs Los Angeles FC: James Reservations

The Premier League club dominated the first half, with Lloris stopping a Noni Madoneeke shot from inside the box after the English International broke into the line as part of a sharp exchange with Nicholas Jackson before Neto’s goal.

However, there was a moment to forget for Reese James, when the right back was booked for a seemingly minor foul on LAFC Dangerman Dennis BoangaVenezuelan judge and Jesus Valenzuela’s decision make the three Lions widemen clearly mystical.

“He’s going strong,” Brown said. “Does he get into contact with his feet? Is it reckless, will he go to the ground?

“There’s a bit of a bit when the left hand comes out. That’s what you’re supposed to do. No one gets the other side of you.

“To lose a foul and receive a yellow card — Shock tells us how much he disagreed with the decision.”

Commentator Rich Wolfenden said Valenzuela was “not too close” to the incident. “It was gathering,” he added.

“Yellow cards (especially) (hard) – I was out for corners and goal kicks, but it wasn’t an opportunity.”
