Oracle to Openai Extended Stargate Project 4.5 GW AI Infrastructure Investment
Openai CFO Sarah Friar explains how AI is centerstaging with Davos, what Stargate Project means for the macroeconomics, and details of new products for key customers.
Oracle and Openai have agreed to further develop the Stargate Project as part of a broader pledge to expand Artificial Intelligence (AI) Infrastructure In the US.
The companies made an announcement Tuesday, pledging an additional 4.5 gigawatts of Stargate data center capacity. This is expected to create more than 100,000 jobs across indirect roles such as business, construction, manufacturing and local services.
The new agreement continues its commitment to invest $500 billion in US-based AI infrastructure over the next four years.
With the addition of 4.5 GW, the project will be 5 GW with commitments of over 10 GW.

“This is almost a year since Sam Altman planted the flag on democratic and dictatorial AI,” said Chris Lehane, Openai’s chief global affairs officer. Fox News Digital.
“Many anniversaries overlap. Stargate concept with President Trump Oracle and Stargate, the first full day of his presidency. We are now in a place where we are on a concrete path forward,” he later added.
According to Openai, the company currently expects it to surpass its initial target, citing “strong momentum” and its partnership with Oracle and SoftBank.
“This investment will help create new jobs, accelerate America’s academic background and promote American AI leadership,” Openai said, referring to plans to provide large-scale computing power and support to the US economy.

“It also marks a major milestone for Stargate, Openai’s AI infrastructure platform and its long-term vision to provide the benefits of AI for everyone,” the company continued.
Some of the facilities are in operation at the Stargate I site in Abilene, Texas. Oracle has begun delivering the first one NVIDIA GB200 Rack In June, and Openai says it began running early training and inference workloads with this new ability to drive “research on the next generation frontier.”
The announcement points out that Stargate I sites have already created thousands of jobs and are even more hopeful as operations grow. According to Openai, new jobs will come from more than 20 states.

Openai also highlighted the White House leadership as a driving force for innovation, employment growth and national competitiveness centered around AI infrastructure.
“Over the past six months, the growing interest in Stargate has helped us shape and expand our vision for this effort. Stargate is Openai’s comprehensive AI infrastructure platform, covering ongoing data center partnerships with Oracle, SoftBank and CoreWeave, and covering international investments in US infrastructure through Openai. Stargate,” the company added.
