Over 65,000 fans line up London’s streets to give Lioness a day to remember
Fear about the lack of people lined up at the mall of England defender Esme Morgan was swiftly banished this afternoon as a crowd of about 65,000 people celebrated the success of the Lioness Euro 2025.
Salina Wigman’s team overcome Spain with a penalty shootout in the final on Sunday In Basel, they successfully defend the crown they won in their home soil three years ago.
After returning home yesterday, the players enjoyed a drink reception with Downing Street Prime Minister Angela Rayner, before getting the opportunity to intensify fan worship this afternoon at an open-top bath parade in central London.
Morgan reassured that the mall wasn’t empty
Morgan, who was dropped for the final, said, “Some of us recently said, “I hope the parade isn’t the full length of the mall.”
“We said, ‘What if that happens?’ – but we showed up today, and it was absolutely packed, I can’t believe it.
Captain Leah Williamson added:
“This is incredible and perhaps one of the best we’ve been involved in.”
Wiegman’s Burna Boy’s Surprise
Princess Beatrice of York was present on behalf of the royal family as the bus weaved into the on-stage ceremony in front of Queen Victoria Memorial outside Buckingham Palace.
There was also a special appearance from Wiegman’s favorite artist, Pop Act Burna Boy.
Morgan added: “Salina has a rhythm. She absolutely loves the boy Bernah. I can’t believe it. Her face when they brought the boy Burna was a photo. None of us could honestly believe it.
“I’ve never had a day like this,” Chelsea defender Niam Charles told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“If I were to go back to my younger self, who has come to visit Buckingham Palace, I wouldn’t have thought I would be here now.
“Me and my family spent the weekend here. We went around all the sights. There’s a photo of me actually posing here.
