Pacquiao was drawn by Barrios and held in Mayweather’s rematch

Manny Pacquiao says he’s still open to his fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. despite being held in a 12-round draw last Saturday night in the title challenge with WBC welterweight champion Mario Barrios. Mayweather will turn 49 in February.

Pacquiao (62-8-3, 39 Kos) was unable to capture the negotiating tip needed to separate Mayweather from his eight-year retirement. If Manny wins that fight, there’s a great chance that Mayweather has returned to the sport for the opportunity to pick up the WBC 147-LB belt.

Fan Reaction: Re-backlash

Social media fans are opposed to the idea that Pacquiao and Mayweather will fight a rematch. They would have fought between 2015 and 2017 when they fought the second time. It’s not like Floyd and Pacquiao need money. Both have great assets. They don’t need a second fight.

“If he comes out, Sign the contract and we’ll fight. If he wants, fight again. Manny Pacquiao said at a postwar press conference last Saturday.

It would be a joke that Mayweather escaped from retirement to fight Pacquiao. The most likely way to pull Floyd back is that he doesn’t want to put his undefeated record in danger. He retired 50-0, and he wouldn’t want to thief his record.

Towards the end of Mayweather’s career, he was cherry-pipping his opponents to avoid losing. He could have fought men like young Errol Spence and Keith Thurman. Instead of doing that, Floyd padded the records enough to break Rocky Marciano’s 49-0 record.

Pacquiao will continue to fight a little longer. As long as he can avoid losses, he will continue to fight.
