Paris Saint-Germain v Bayern Munich: lineup, statistics, preview
Preview of Paris Saint-Germain v Bayern Munich
The Club World Cup will raise the notch tomorrow as two European heavyweights are slowly taking off in Atlanta.
French and European champions Paris Saint-Germain will face Bundesliga winner Bayern Munich for the right to play either Real Madrid or Borussia Dortmund in the semi-finals.
Both teams are stacked with international talent, and it’s a kind of match-up FIFA that is expected when they decide to expand this tournament to attract more fans ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
Bavarian President Herbert Heiner is hoping for a close game that can go either way.
He told TZ:
“We compete with the winners of the Champions League with the greatest respect, but we are FC Bayern and no one needs to be afraid of us.”
In PSG’s final two matches against European opposition, they defeated Inter Milan 5-0 in the Champions League final, and Atletico Madrid defeated 4-0 in the opening match of the Club World Cup.
They were exploited as a victory under Louis Enrique, but Heiner has confidence in Vincent Company’s side.
He added: “Our teams are in a good place. And when two top teams play against each other, it’s always a sight for the fans. Such a game is about nuances, and sometimes the shape of the day is determined.”

Tomorrow may be Thomas Muller’s final appearance on a Bayern shirt.
The midfielder holds the record for the most appearances in the club’s history, but now counts down to the day he has to move on.
Muller enjoys being with his team for the last time in the US and hopes to go out with a slam.
He states: “Compared to everyday life in the Bundesliga, these major tournaments are about short-term perspectives. We need to grow or go home.”
Bayern beat Flamengo 4-2 in the final 16, but PSG discarded Lionel Messi and Intermiami’s challenges 4-0.
Luis Enrique has changed from a club plagued by internal problems caused by superstar players to a young hungry team that can dominate the continental competition for many years.
However, the Spaniards are very focused on the present and hope to be able to back up their recent success with another trophy.
He said: “This is clearly a historic season for our club and we are going to continue making history in this competition.”
