Parker Puzzle: Roy Jones Jr. claims he is USYK’s ultimate challenge and overlooks financial reality
Roy Jones Jr. says he hopes Olexandre Usaik will next fight against Joseph Parker in the final battle of Usaik’s career. Jones Jr. believes Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) is the only division in which he has the physical skills to suit USYK (24-0, 15 KOs).
Roy has not said who will fund the battle of Usyk-Parker if that happens next. Turki Alalshikh is reportedly not interested in tackling this fight. This means that Usyk has to cut his massive pay cuts to compete against Parker. That doesn’t make much sense.
Jones Jr. wants usyk-parker
“No one sees beat him, but the challenge I want to see is Joseph Parker,” Roy Jones Jr. said. SECONDOUT About who he wants from Oleksandr Usyk to fight for the final clash of his career. “Joseph Parker is a guy who also knows how to fight like a cruiserweight or a heavyweight, and that’s how you beat him.”
It will be interesting to know if Jones Jr. wants to fight a hoodie if he wears the same Usaik shoes. For some reason, I don’t think Roy Jr. is the kind of thing to throw away billions of dollars. His comment about wanting Parker is based on his lack of knowing what the drawbacks of the move are. It would be foolish for Oleksandr to sacrifice his final fight to appease his fans.
“You can’t get out there and hit him (usyk) with big shots and power punches. He’s used to it. You’re not going to catch him that way,” Jones Jr. said.
Many naive fans have bought Parker for his recent victory over two old heavyweight and obese poor opponents.
Parker’s final three fights:
- Martin Bakole: 310 lbs
- Zhilei Zhang: 42 years old
- Deontay Wilder: 39
USYK Skills vs. Parker
When fans see these three names on Parker’s resume, they assume he beat those people with their prime. They don’t take the time to see how far these guys were, and how Parker’s victory is meaningless. He did not fight quality fighters.
“The only people I’ve seen recently are the trainer and Joseph Parker that he has now, who can fit his speed and rhythm,” Jones Jr. said.
