Shardeur Thakur is once again in the rescue of Mumbai, this time with a ball.
He must be in the UK on that plane in June, but there is no doubt about this. What a wealth he is, and he has proven it over and over again for India.#ranjitrophy-SanchitDesai (@sanchitd43) February 10, 2025
Shardul Thakur continues his strong claim on the tour of England. He is a man in crisis in Mumbai, has all his round abilities and is in the driver’s seat with four wickets against Haryana in Eden Gardens.

Thakur’s outstanding season and India’s future prospects
This exceptional performance further strengthens Thakur’s position as a key asset in Mumbai. Playing the eighth game of the season, he collected 30 wickets on an impressive average of just over 22, including three four-wicket hauls. This marked the haul of his maiden of five wickets in an ongoing Langi Trophy campaign. In addition to his bowling exploits, Takuru was incredibly valuable in the bat, earning 396 runs averaged over 45, including the century and the 30s.
Thakur remains a reliable all-around despite being out of India’s test team since 2023. He was sidelined due to injuries, but he regained full fitness, but was overlooked in the recent Whiteball series against England and not included in the Champions Trophy team. In addition to his disappointment, he was left unsold Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 auction. However, given Ranji Trophy’s current form, he still managed to find a way back to national setups or be chosen as an alternative player in the event of an injury.
