Real Madrid talent Gonzalo Garcia lives a “dream” with Los Blancos
Real Madrid’s rising star Gonzalo Garcia described his Club World Cup experience as a “dream” and continues his impressive scoring run, comparing him early with club icon Raul.
The 21-year-old forward scored four goals in five appearances for Madrid. This includes a key strike in Saturday’s 3-2 quarter-final victory over Borussia Dortmund.
Gonzalo currently shares the top spot in Golden Bootlace with Al Giral’s Marcos Leonardo and Benfica’s Angel Di Maria.
Madrid supporters have been keen to enhance their homemade offensive talent since the legendary emergence of Raul in the 1990s.
The former captain scored 323 goals in 741 games before being overtaken by Cristiano Ronaldo and subsequently Karim Benzema on the club’s all-time scoring chart.
Madrid’s Castila team and his mark Gonzalo are trying to prove that Raul deserves a comparison as he makes a leap under manager Xabi Alonso.
He states:
“I was working and waiting for opportunities, but in my dreams it wasn’t.

“I don’t feel much pressure. I’m working and waiting for this moment.
“The coaches, players, staff all give me a lot of confidence. Let’s say that Killian (Mbappe) is almost… the best player in the world.
Gonzalo’s performance helped Madrid reach the final four of the Club World Cup, but their journey was not bothered. In a victory at Dortmund, Madrid almost slipped the lead after admitting two late goals.
Goalkeeper Thibaud Court Court has expressed the need for improvement ahead of the semi-final clash with Champions League winner PSG, which will be held in New Jersey on Wednesday.
“We need to analyze the game and then we work in the next game,” says Courtois. “PSG is an incredible opponent and a current Champions League winner and had an incredible season.
“It’s going to be a hard game. They like their possessions and they press a lot, so you have to prepare.
“The team is on track. We press a lot, we defend a lot, we attack a lot. Sometimes we need more possession to kill the game, and that’s what we have to do better.
“We’ve made every game better, we learn more from our coaches and put what he wants in the game. That doesn’t always happen, but we’re getting better.”
