Report, results and goals as Lioness retain title at Euro 2025

Chloe Kelly won the winning penalty as England defeated the World Champions Spain in a shootout to defend the title at Euro 2025.

The Champions in their hometown soil in 2022 were the underdogs in the final against the Spanish side, who defeated them in the 2023 World Cup final in Australia.

The unconvincing route to the final did little to dispel the notion that they would appear second against Spain.

However, Alesia Russo was equal in the 57th minute and after Britain continued to leave Spain with an extra time, it was them who remained calm in the shootout despite Beth Mead missing his first spot kick after the relapse.

Hannah Hampton saved Salma Paraluelo from Caldente and Aitana Bonmati by allowing winner scorer Kelly three years ago to seal back-to-back titles against Germany, for the Lioness.

England vs Spain

England would have gotten off to a strong start and would have taken an early lead without Kata Kol. Kata Kol produced a great diving save to reject Alesia Russo from a close angle after being played on the right channel by Lucy Bronze.

Spain then grew into the game, with Hampton creating a goalkeeping alert piece to prevent Ester Gonzalez from opening a score.

The World Champions mostly presented England to the opening round when the Lioness press portrayed the stray passes that Lauren Hemp hits in the area.

And for Hemp’s inability to take that chance, Caldentai was punished for defeating the deadlock, heading towards the top right corner from the stunning right wing cross of Ona Battle.

England then suffered from a set-off when Lauren James, who was suspected before the game due to ankle issues, was kicked out five minutes before the end of normal time in the first half. The Chelsea star was replaced by Kelly.

Ease of ease from the bench for the British final, Kelly needed a 12-minute spark in the second half.

England continued to dominate after leveling, and Kelly nearly completed the turnaround while firing goals at the end of a neat move. The excellent Katakol was on par with her efforts, but she turned it backwards of the post.

Spain introduced Claudia Pina at the pace of Alexia Peteras, and she quickly approached the shock, and the drive near her post was turned over by Hampton.

Laloha decided the conditions at the first time. It won’t get in the way of your chances. England’s most tense moments come when an impressive battle burns a dangerous low ball across the face of the goal.

British Starwar Truthy Bronze retreated for injuries at extra time intervals, and another injured blow occurred later in the second half of the second season as Georgia Stunway was kicked out after he curled up for Spain for trying to break the Lioness.

They were unable to do so and their failures proved to be important in the end.

Patri Guillaro put Spain ahead, but after Alex Greenwood found the net, Hampton flew to her left and blocked Caldenti. She then beautifully saved her from Bonmaty after a confident penalty from Niam Charles, and Leah Williamson saw her spot kick being saved, but Parallelo’s Miss Tee tees Kelly and etches her name into British history once again.
