Roomba’s new entry-level robot VAC has three premium features and no upcharge included
Roomba-Maker Irobot has added 4 new Lidar equipment The robot vacuum This model is available in the 2025 lineup, and offers premium features at a more reasonable price. They include the Roomba 205 DustCompactor, the “world’s first” roboback equipped with a compact bin. This mechanically compresses dust and debris to save space in the dock. Imagine it resembling a garbage truck trash compressor.
“The net profit for the consumer is getting 60 days of hands-free maintenance without the need for another car dock,” said Warren Fernandez, director of product management at Irobot.
Roomba 205 can clean vacuum cleaners and mops.
Fernandez told CNET that the feature is targeted at people who want to hide Robovac under the sofa, except for the Roomba 205. The noise in the compression bin “doesn’t exceed the noise the robot vacuum already makes.”
The new lineup includes entry-level, mid-tier and premium robot vacuums. But just because you choose a cheaper model doesn’t mean you lack the best features.
Premium features now standard
The Roomba 2025 lineup was developed based on 18 months of research into consumers in North America, Europe, Japan, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
“The ’25 portfolio strategy is to strengthen the Lombab family with a set of new products based on its consumer feedback, that 18 months of research, and to really carefully consider ways to improve every aspect of the product experience,” Fernandez said.
The 2025 base and mid-tier models feature new features previously reserved for the iRobot high-end vacuum cleaner. These features include the unique ClearView Lidar navigation, a new addition to Irobot’s product lineup. This allows Roboback to improve navigation in the home and avoid obstacles even in dark rooms.
The Roomba 105 is inconspicuous enough to slide under sofas and other low furniture.
Fernandez said Lidar is “a real game changer, especially for users who use very old robots that may be working on old technology.”
“The concept of this kind of robotics will bump into everything, it will bump into everything, it will be a thing of the past,” he said. “This will detect all sorts of obstacles in your entire home very accurately and avoid them all.”
The new vacuum has increased the suction power of 7,000 Pascals. iRobot said it has 70 times the powerlifting suction power of the Roomba 600 series.
SmartScrub is another feature that was once exclusive to Irobot’s finest Robovac, but is now in the 2025 combo lineup. Fernandez says that robots “allow them to target stubborn dirt that they’re cleaning up by mimicking movements that humans may move like they’re interacting with.
Disassemble the new iRobot Roomba lineup
Roomba is pulling out the page Smartphone A playbook introducing entry-level, mid-tier and premium models. Here’s what it looks like in the 2025 lineup:
Roomba 105 allows you to tackle the edges with a spinning brush.
Entry Level: Roomba 105 and Roomba 205
There are two models for the Roomba 105. The 105VAC is $319 for a vacuum-only model for $299 or a 105 combo combination vacuum and MOP model. Available for an additional $150 on the AutoEmpty Dock. The AutoEmpty Dock now allows an estimated 75 days of vacuum cleaner before it needs to be empty.
The Roomba 205 DustCompactor is available as a $449 vacuum (DustCompactor VAC) or as a $469 DustCompactor Combo combo model. Side note: The contents of the dust bin are not similar to the cube. Fernandez said the sky experience is more traditional, just like what you’re used to when you already have a robot vacuum.
These entry-level combination models can detect carpets, but carpets are limited when it comes to cleaning. Fernandez recommended that you remove the MOP pads for most of the time so that you can focus on the vacuum cleaner.
“Leaving the mopping pads attached will just clean up the hard floors of your home,” he said.
The Roomba 205 has a LIDAR function and is mopped, but you will need to manually replace the mopping pad.
Midtier: Roomba Plus 405 and Roomba Plus 505
This layer has a stronger mopping feature, and has dual spin mop pads that autonomously lift from 10mm off the ground when carpet is detected. The dock also autonomously cleans and drys the mop pads.
The Roomba Plus 405 Combo Robot + Autowash Dock is available for $799. The Roomba Plus 505 Combo Robot + Autowash Dock is $999, which is even better than the 405. First, the MOP pads extend to the sides, improving edge and corner cleaning. The dock also heats the mop pads.
Finally, and most notably, it features a Fronte Precision Vision AI camera to improve navigation and obstacle detection. “This is the best of both world equations,” Fernandez said. “The 505 combo takes advantage of all the benefits of its ClearView Pro Lidar and all the benefits and know-how of frontline AI camera technology.
It’s easy Be careful of poop: Fernandez said the 2025 lineup should be able to recognize and avoid pet waste (the company trains robots extensively with fake poop of different shapes and sizes), but he recommended the Roomba 505 to worrying pet owners, considering stronger navigation and object recognition.
The Roomba 505 is good at avoiding accidentally wiping the carpet.
Premium: Roomba Combo 10 max
Roomba Combo 10 Max Robot + Autowash DockIt was launched last August and will retain its place as an iRobot premium product. It costs $1,400, but is available for sale now iRobot website $900. The distinction is the automatic recovery mopping system that lifts the mop pad to the top of the robot when the carpet is detected, and the dock that autonomously cleans the robot and itself.

The new Roomba app aims to keep things simple
In addition to the new lineup, iRobot will also introduce the Roomba Home app (joining existing apps) iRobot Home App) It aims to simplify the act of cleaning people’s homes.
“We don’t need you to come to our app and see a big, clean photo of the robot and click on two or three submenus to do anything,” Fernandez said. “Let’s be authentic: You have an app open to clean your home, so jump straight into your home.”
New apps that support only new products introduce reconfigured home screens. The top third will be dedicated to user-generated or to the cleaning routines proposed by iRobot. Fernandez says he should be able to tap on any of them, and the robot will get to work.

At the bottom of the screen, two-thirds of the screen is a map of the home that Fernandez said would be “actually feasible.” As an example, he said that if you drop granola on your way from the kitchen to the office, you can quickly order a robot and do “supervised room clean” in places where there is confusion.
The new app also better informs you what the robot is doing at the moment and how much progress is being made in the current cleaning task. Finally, the app offers proactive maintenance and troubleshooting, reminding you to replace and order filters, check out your debris bags, and clean your brushes.
“We give users the opportunity to decide when they want to do that kind of preventative maintenance,” Fernandez said.
The new apps can be downloaded on iOS and Android. Roomba’s 2025 lineup will be available in North America from March 18th, with some of the European markets available.
