Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney 2 is no longer in demand
After creating a dramatic first battle, both Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney delivered overwhelming performances at the fatal Fury: City of Wolves event. And now, the potential rematch between Garcia and Haney is a battle that has lost its national charm.
The fatal anger was set to be the prelude to the highly anticipated rematch between Ryan Garcia and Devin Haney. Unfortunately, both fighters didn’t look sharp, but now the potential excitement of Garcia vs Haney two matches is diminished.
Pageantry related to fatal rage: Wolf City was really blank, but the actions in the ring didn’t live up to the hype. Of the three-star boxers featured in the highly publicized triple header, Theofimo Lopez was the only person to post a solid performance.
In the second main event of the triple header, former two-weight world champion Devin “Dream” Haney faced Josera Mirez, the former unified super lightweight world champion. This was Haney’s first match since his clash with Ryan Garcia in April 2024.
Honey used his desperate outside moves throughout the 12-round contest in his battle with Ramirez. With the nickname “The Dream,” Haney would throw one punch at a time, then run around the ring to put the crowd to sleep.
Jose Ramirez was constantly moving forward, but he didn’t have the foot speed required to successfully amputate the ring. At the end of the dull 12-round match, Devin Haney was declared the winner by a unanimous decision.
Compubox has been used in the sport of boxing for the past 40 years, and since its inception, the Haney vs Ramirez match set a record as it was placed fourth due to the smallest amount of punches landed in a 12-round battle. Haney landed 70 punches and Ramirez landed 40.
After the non-event Haney vs. Ramirez match, fans of the fight vowed that the Ryan Garcia vs. Rory Romero match would be a night battle. Garcia got off to a good start as he used his feint to connect with the jab.
Early in the second round, Romero landed a double left hook and sent Garcia to the canvas. Garcia rose to his feet, survived and was able to make it from the second round.
For the rest of the battle, Garcia seemed hesitant to attack the offensive end. Rolly Romero decided the pace of the match, and at the end of the 12-round contest, Rolly Romero was won by a unanimous decision.
It’s safe to say no one wants to see the Honey vs Garcia sequel, as Ryan Garcia (24-2, 20 KOS) lost the fight and Devin Haney (32-0, 15 KOs) won his match. The question is, if they don’t fight each other, what’s next for Haney and Garcia?
For Devin Haney, the 147 pound weight class may not be the best for him, so having said that, you may need a familiar opponent like Teofimo Lopez or Rolly Romero. As for Ryan Garcia, he needs to regain his credibility. Therefore, he must go on a tune-up fight before pursuing a rematch with Rolly Romero.
