Schumer presses DOJ, presses FBI and releases the Epstein Files through Century Old Law

Senate Minority Leader Chuck SchumerDn.Y. said Wednesday that Democrats called for a century-old law to force President Donald Trump’s Justice Department and the FBI to release Jeffrey Epstein’s files.
At a press conference, Schumer said he called out “a little-known first-century law known as the Five Rule” on all his Democratic colleagues on the Senate Homeland Security Committee. Under federal law, Schumer said, “When five senators on the Homeland Security Committee call for administrative departments, the administrative department must follow.”
Schumer said it will “cover all documents, files, evidence and other materials” owned by the DOJ and the FBI. US vs. Jeffrey Epstein.
“While protecting the identity of a victim can have the highest importance, the public has the right to know who has enabled, known or participated in one of the most vicious sex trafficking operations in history,” Schumer said.

He has promised transparency in past statements from Attorney General Pam Bondy and FBI Director Kash Patel, but argued that the public has only received “stonewall, avoidance, lies.”
“Donald Trump campaigned for the release of the Epstein Files. He broke that promise,” Schumer continued. “Trump should stop hiding from the truth. He should stop hiding from Americans. That’s why Senate Democrats have taken action today. We are calling out federal law and using our authority as a check of enforcement to enforce transparency.”
“It’s not a stunt. It’s not symbolic. It’s a formal exercise of Congress’ power under federal law, and I’m hoping for an answer from the DOJ by the 15th,” the Senate Democrat continued. “That’s how accountability looks. This is how surveillance looks. And this is what maintains your promise to the people of America.”
He also appealed to Senate Republicans.
“If you believe in transparency, if you think Congress has a role to play in checking executives, join us. Seek more transparency in the Epstein Files.
DOJ did not immediately respond to requests for comment from Fox News Digital.
Schumer first made his presentation in a speech on the Senate floor earlier on Wednesday. Top Democrats argue he and four other senators can be forced Ministry of Justice Release the file to the public.
Wednesday’s floor speech was Schumer’s second in the past few days to focus on the Epstein Files. He also called on the FBI to conduct an anti-intellectual threat assessment in the Epstein case on Tuesday.

He argued FBI evaluation You need to accomplish three things: Determine whether foreign intelligence agencies have access to the information. Identifies vulnerabilities that could be exploited by foreign intelligence agencies that have access to private information in Epstein files. And the FBI has publicly shown that the department is “developing mitigation strategies to counter these threats and protect national security.”
