Scotus blocks new deportation of Venezuelans in Texas under 18th century alien enemies
US Supreme Court For now, at least, it issued an early Saturday morning blocking, but the deportation of Venezuelans took place in northern Texas under 18th century wartime laws.
The judge directed Trump administration “Until further orders of this court” do not remove any Venezuelans held in the Bluebonnet Detention Center.
Justice Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito disagreed with the majority.

The court’s decision comes after an emergency appeal from the American Civil Liberties Union Federal Immigration Authority It appeared to be working to resume the removal of immigrants from the United States under the Alien Enemy Act of 1798.
Two federal judges have refused to intervene earlier, and the US Fifth Circuit has made no decision.

Alien enemy laws have only been called three times before in US history. During the recent World War II, the detention camps were to house Japanese-American civilians.
The Trump administration argues that the law has given them the power to expeditiously remove immigrants who accused them of being members of the Tren de Aragua gang, regardless of their status.
