Seven people still lacking after the explosive evacuation of California’s fireworks facility

Hundreds of people without power, seven remain missing after violent explosions at fireworks facilities Yolo County, CaliforniaTuesday evening.
At least two people were injured explosion, This happened just before 6pm local time at the Espart commercial fireworks facility.
At a press conference Wednesday, Esparto Fire Chief Curtis Lawrence confirmed that firefighters first entered the building, but was later drawn out due to “severity and risks that were there.”

It is unknown whether the missing person is an employee of the facility, but the firefighters were not injured in the explosion.

Lawrence said officials don’t know that it’s safe enough for firefighters to return to the scene.
Initially, over 30 firefighters responded. As of Wednesday afternoon, a few remained.

“You can say I’ve never seen anything like this,” Lawrence said. “This is clearly a magnitude of incident. … My next priority is to work with the command team to try and reduce this exclusion zone so that members can be brought home and have something that can be regenerated in the area when it’s safe.”

“Our agency is local to a small community, we are primarily volunteer agencies,” Lawrence said. “I would repent if I didn’t add that I was truly grateful and proud of all the responders that came out yesterday and today.

Cal Fire has confirmed that the building is owned by an active fireworks license holder, but the owner’s identity has not been released yet.
The office of the former state firefighter s, which is leading the investigation, sent an arson and bomb investigation team to the area, according to Gov. Gavin Newsom”Office.

As of Wednesday afternoon, 78.3 acres had burned with 0% containment, according to Cal Fire.
Authorities have not released the cause of the fire yet.
