Shakur Stephenson calls Zepeda’s fight “for the fans” as critics blow him up to dodge his bigger rival
Shakur Stephenson claims he put him down “Back to the wall” By “giving the fight they want” “they want the fans they want” against WBC interim lightweight champion William Zepeda, held in New York on July 12th. However, this is not the battle fans would like to see from Shakur (23-0, 11 KOs), a native of New Jersey. They want him to fight him ‘Brothers’ Keyshaun Davis and Gelbonta Davis.

The only reason Shakur wants to fight Zepeda is that it’s a strategic objective. He sees the slow, stepped, flat Mexican volume puncher as a good looking person with his boxed out. His style was created for Shakur’s hit-and-run approach to combat.
Fighters who do not want some of the fight for their strength, speed and boxing skills avoid mentioning. These are the third rail guys that Stevenson avoids.

For the fans?
Fans’ interest in watching Shakur Zepeda disappeared after Golden Boy won Zepeda’s narrow, 12-round majority-decisive victory in the rematch on March 29th. The fight was as razor closure as the previous fight in Riyadh on November 16th last year. Many fans felt that Zepeda (33-0, 27 Kos) had lost both fights, but was saved by the judges.
“I’ve never been there anybody b**** xtalks about his title defense against William Zepeda, a WBC interim 135 pounds in New York.
Shakur has not mentioned X about leaving Eddie Hearn’s matchroom and connecting with promoter Lou Dibella for the July 12th fight against Zepeda. There was no official statement from Matchoom to confirm or deny that Stevenson had left the company after his fight with electrician Josh Padley.
