For some reason, it’s been 50 years since then Steven Spielberg’s jaw I bit the big screen. Turning Big Five O’s is a big deal, so it’s time to celebrate. The iconic film based on Peter Benchley’s novel of the same name took a note of style from Hitchcock And it was a grindhouse film from the era and it was my first film. Summer hit.
Jaws is not a complicated film. It tells the story of a vengeful shark and the tourist beach town of Amity Island.
The film stars Roy Scheider, Richard Dreyfuss and Robert Shaw as police chief Martin Brody, oceanographer Matt Hooper and Grizzle Shark Hunter Quint, respectively. This central trio of men became the only one standing among the unsuspecting people of the despicable great white and beach. Jaws challenged the pop culture lexicon thanks to John Williams’ iconic theme music and Spielberg’s lesser approach (mainly because sharks continued to malfunction).
I remember seeing Jaws as a kid at a local theatre. I’m almost a year younger than the film, but in the 80s there was this fun trend in cinemas revisiting these incredible films every year, so both old and young could remember the glory. I quickly became engrossed in the overall scope, soundtrack and movie horror. Soon after that, I boarded the Universal Studios tram via the Amity Island Set to cement my new fear/attraction towards the great white shark. Fifty years later, the jaw legacy endured.
There is this tradition of playing the Jaws Marathon just before the summer season. It’s my own personal Shark Week It’s ahead of the official ones that occur every year on the Discovery Channel. Of course, it’s still the best at first, but it’s pleasant to see Brody as Jaws 2 fight another shark threat. As for Jaws, for 3D and Jaws: Revenge, there’s certainly a place for them here, even if the plotline isn’t connected as in the original film. Sometimes I just want to see a venge-hungered shark pick up unsuspecting people one by one.

How to view “Jaws” parts 1-4
Starting today, Sunday, June 15th, you can view all the articles from the Jaws franchise peacock. These include the 1975 classics, Jaws 2 (1978), Jaws 3-D (1983), and Jaws: The Revenge (1987). The film will be available for streaming on the platform until July 14th.
