He will likely be used as the Dodgers opener.
“Shohei is feeling uneasy, and this is good for us,” Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said before the team announced that Otani would be joining the bump.
“I don’t know if it’s one or two, but my guess is probably the innings to start. But that’s good. I’ve run the course live, simulated or whatever. He’s ready to make his debut on the mound.”
Otani was expected to return to the pitcher’s mound at one point when he signed a 10-year, $700 million contract with Los Angeles before the 2024 season. It was only a matter of time and the Dodgers were not worried about slowing down their efforts to pitch again.

He began his bullpen session on March 29th and threw batting practice on May 25th.
“There were a lot of expectations,” Roberts said. “I think we communicated with our process, the shoe hei and did it the right way until we felt better. …It’s good for our team. Our people are excited by this possibility.
Otani is one of the rare athletes in a sport that can both pitch and hit.
He made 86 appearances as a pitcher and hit 608 batters in a 3.01 ERA. He’s just pitched Los Angeles Angels In MLB.
Los Angeles handles a number of injuries in its rotation. Sasaki roki is set to be sidelined for a long time in a right shoulder collision, Blake Snell misses time due to inflammation in his left shoulder, and Tyler Glasnow deals with inflammation in his right shoulder.
