Should I tip for takeaway or fast food? Etiquette experts shared the answer

Tip Restaurant employees are also earning at least the state minimum wage, according to the National Restaurant Association.

However, people who work in the service or retail industry may have a different perspective.
“When options come in, I’m always happy to tip,” Blair Dubinski, a client advisor at a luxury brand retailer in New York City, told Fox News Digital. “Working with the public is not easy. If that’s how I appreciate them, then I don’t mind doing it.”

Tipping habits are strictly American, according to Sarah Ainsworth, a Texas-based etiquette consultant trained at a Washington protocol school.

“Sometimes, they encourage you to pay more than your usual percentage,” she said.

Nordstrom said he noticed that the automatic tip option creeps up higher.

Dubinsky said he frequently leaned fast food workers, not out of duty, but merely as courtesy.
“I don’t think people should necessarily feel like they need to tilt in fast food restaurants. But people take their orders and make the food, so I think it’s very polite.”
