Matthews’ sparkling career in international cricket
Matthews has been the backbone of Sri Lankan cricket for over a decade. Known for his technically sound batting and powerful stroke play, he represents Sri Lanka in over 430 matches in all formats. Right-handed people have accumulated 16,477 international runs, including the 19th century. In addition to his batting display, Matthew made a major contribution to the ball, taking over 200 wickets.
His outstanding performance was made in Test cricket, with the 38-year-old scoring 8,167 runs, including the 16th century. Maintaining an astonishing average of 45 in the longest and most challenging format of the game, Matthews introduced consistency, resilience and rank throughout his career.
