Social media star says New York Jews involved after Mamdani’s major victory


Anti-Semitism concerns continue to grow New York Cityas some residents have said, they are beginning to question whether the largest city in the country is a safe place for them. One social media star says Zoran Mamdani’s victory in the democratic mayoral primary only escalated the horrors of the Jewish community.

“We’re very scared,” said social media influencer and entrepreneur Ben Sofa. “I was afraid to be openly Jewish here, so I never thought I had to leave.”

Sofa, who lived in New York City for a lifetime, said he was thinking about overcoming the rise in anti-Semitism in the area. He pointed out that it is his main concern right now. Zoran Mamdani Potentially will become the city’s next mayor.

Mamdani, a 33-year-old state legislator from Queens, is a self-proclaimed socialist who defeated former Governor Andrew Cuomo in the Democratic mayoral primary. Ever since his election was upset, Mamdani faced pressure to condemn the phrase “globalize the intifada.” Anti-Semitic undertone.

Sofa argues that attempts to separate anti-Zionism from anti-Semitism do not work, both ultimately being hate speech.

“They hide behind that anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism are not the same thing, and they are,” he said. “To those people, I say, ‘What are you, nuts?’ ”

Mamdani’s campaign has been supported among younger, more progressive voters. As an official Democratic candidate, he will face incumbent with Republican candidate Curtis Swa Mayor Eric Adams This November, the general election and his lost opponent, Andrew Cuomo, was chosen to remain on the ballot as an independent.
