The agency has launched a measure that, according to the SSA, “identifies suspicious activity in telephone billing by analyzing patterns and anomalies within individual accounts.”

Social Security Commissioner Leland Dudeck said the move is a way to modernize how agents can “help both security and accessibility.”
“These updates improve our ability to detect and prevent fraud and provide more flexible options for people to access their interests,” Dudek said.
According to SSA, the change will help to “keep the security of the service while continuing to expand access to customers who may not be able to submit online or visit the office in person.”
