Sophos takes away 6% of the workforce after SecureWorks acquisition


Sophos, a UK-based cybersecurity company, has fired 6% of its workforce, the company confirmed Thursday with TechCrunch.

First reported layoff Registercoming less than two weeks after Sophos completed the $859 million acquisition of US cybersecurity firm SecureWorks.

Sophos spokesman Sara Eberle said in an email statement to TechCrunch that layoffs will affect “about 6% of total companies.” Sophos refused to confirm the exact number of affected employees and did not disclose the company’s current personnel.

Sophos said the labor cuts are due to “a position that SecureWorks is no longer needed when delisting as a public company and streamlining overlapping roles as a result of the acquisition.”
