SoundCloud backtracks AI-related terms and conditions updates

Earlier this year, SoundCloud quietly updated Usage Policy,To enable many users to train AI on audio uploaded to the platform, we add words that many users interpret as legal cover. SoundCloud quickly insisted that it was not developing AI using user content, but its PR statement did not alleviate fear that SoundCloud might do so in the future.
Wednesday, SoundCloud CEO Eliah Seton Published an Open Letter He admits that the language of the change in company terms was “too broad and not clear enough.” The update was intended to focus internally on other uses of AI in the company, Seton said he missed the mark, including recommendations and tools to prevent fraud.
SoundCloud has revised the term “to train a generated AI model aimed at replicating or synthesizing sound, music, or likeness, and to make it completely clear.”
