According to Picarsic, China has also invested heavily in Lima’s infrastructure, most notably controlling the electricity industry, all of which Lopez Ariga was a work of “Lynch Pin” that advances China’s control.

Now, with Lopez Ariga likely to enter the Peruvian presidential election, Picalchic explained that this all “seems like a bright sign of Chinese handicraft.”

He also called the donations of trains from the US to Peru “too little, too late” and was unable to combat China’s growing influence in the region.
