From spaghetti enthusiasts to penne’s passion, American pasta preferences reveal a cultural clash of carbohydrate loads across state lines.
Research conducted with inspired tastes aimed at revealing a wide range of America Pasta favourites – That is, the favourite pasta shapes of each state.
In doing so, we found unexpected local preferences and national outliers.

Spaghetti is The national favorite led the country with 26% of the vote, especially in Mississippi, which won 20 states. Classic noodles – Strongest single state loyalty to pasta types.

Penne was second in 25% of the vote, and was the favourite pasta in 17 states, particularly in the Pacific Northwest.
He is a top candidate for states like Washington and Oregon.

“What surprised me the most was how close the race between spaghetti and penne was, and that was only a 1% difference,” Joan Gallagher, recipe creator and co-founder of Inspiration Taste in Walla, Washington, told Fox News Digital.

Despite the elbow being the fourth most popular pasta shape nationwide, a single state never chose it as a favorite.
Arizona stands out as the biggest penne lover, with 50% of its residents supporting it. It is higher than the penne preferences of other states.

Although it doesn’t lead nationwide, Fettchin controls California at 33%.
Hawaii and New Mexico are the only states that favor angel hair pasta or capelini.

South Dakota, Alaska and Montana are the only states that choose rotini (a swirling, long pasta) as their biggest choice.

Orzo and Angel’s hair are tied together at least because they are loved, with 18% of respondents calling them the least they liked.
