Target, an oyster cracker for sale at Walmart, recalls concerns about metal contamination

Thousands of packages Oyster Cracker It has been recalled after food manufacturers detect possible contamination including “foreign materials.”
Ohio food manufacturer Shearer’s Foods, LLC, began recalls on February 21st. On Tuesday, the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) upgraded its recall to Class II.
Class II recalls include products that are “are likely to cause temporary or medically reversible adverse health effects, or are far away with the probability of serious adverse effects.”
This recall relates to specific batches of market pantry (target), great value (Walmart), huge Eagle and Vista branded oyster crackers, in addition to bulk varieties that are not intended for retail sales. According to the FDA, around 15,874 cases have been recalled.

- Market Pantry Soup and Oyster Crackers UPC code for 085239114933. 23May2025 sales date and 23May2025BC06 code date
- Great soup and oyster crackers UPC code for 078742085494. Coded date ABO6 for May 23, 2025, May 23, 2025, BBO6 for May 23, 2025, CBO6 for May 23, 2025, CBO6 for May 23, 2025, CBO6 for May 23, 2025
- Giant Eagle Oyster Cracker UPC code for 030034915087. Best date for May 24, 2025, and code date for May 24, 25 AB06.
- Vista Soup & Oyster Crackers I am using the UPC code 045100008006. Best date for May 24, 2025 and Code Date for May 24, 25 AB06.
- 20lb. Bulk Oyster Crackers UPC code for 10045100400203. Best date for May 24th, 2025. and code date for May 25 AB06, May 24th 25 BB06.
The recalled products were sold in Alabama, California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, Oregon, Texas, Washington, Washington, Nebraska, Nebraska and Nebraska.
Authorities did not release details about how the product was contaminated, but the FDA notification mentioned “stainless steel wire” as the perpetrator.

Consumers are encouraged to return affected products to the location of purchase for a refund or exchange.
