Teraj collapses on Sandoval. Vargas-Higa ends with a thrilling draw


WBC World Flyweight Champion Kenshiro “Amazing Boy” Teraj (25-1, 16 Cos) lost on Wednesday night in a 12-round split decision to WBC Silver Champion Ricardo “El Ninino Sandoval (26-2, 18 Cos) at Yokohama Bantai, Kawanagawa, Japan.

At the end of the second round, Teraj was slightly swollen under the right eye. In the fifth round, Teraj landed the jaw rights and dropped Sandoval for an eighth count from umpire Steve St. German. He recovered and was cut under his left eye by the end of the round.

In the seventh round, Sandoval had a good round and landed some rights on Teraj’s chin. In the ninth round, Sandoval had an edge.

In the 10th and 11th rounds, Sandoval had a slight edge as both landed well. In the 12th and final rounds, Teraj had a solid round, but may be a bit late.

Hearing the score, Sandoval Teraj praised him.

Scores were 110-117, 112-115, and 114-113.

Antonio Vargas (19-1, 11 Kos) fought in a 12-round draw against Daigohiga (21-3-2, 19 KOs).

In the first round, both had moments. In the fourth round, Higa landed his left on his chin and went to Vargas for an eight count from referee Leszek Jankowiak. Vargas was not injured and went right after the eagles for the rest of the round.

In the sixth round, Vargas remained an invader, recovering fully from his previous knockdown. Vargas was back in good spirits in the 8th and 9th rounds. In the 10th round, both spent the moment and went back and forth.

In the 11th round, both were exhausted and held many. In the 12th final round, it appeared that Higa went from Vargas’ left hook to the canvas. Judge Jankowiak called it an eight-count knockdown. Vargas had a big round.

WBA World Light Flyweight Champion Southpaw Eric ‘Mini Pacman’ Rosa (8-1, 2 KOS) was knocked out by Takayama (10-0, 6 KOS) at 2:48 of the scheduled 12th round.

In the first six rounds, Takami won all rounds and took him to Rosa. In the eighth round, Takami came out quickly and landed a right uppercut on Rosa’s body. In the ninth round, Rosa began to look a little tired. Takami shook him and landed on the right side of Rosa’s head.

In the ninth round, Takami continued the boundary of Rosa, landing a body shot from the right, causing Rosa to injure him. In the 10th round, Takami landed many rights against Rosa’s jaw. For the first minute, Takami landed the right and took Rosa to the canvas for an eight count from Judge Mark Nelson. At the last moment, Takami grabbed him and hurt Rosa, who was holding him as Takami threw him on the canvas. Judge Nelson gave a knockdown but saw Rosa finish and stop.

Super Bantamweight Tensho Isobe (0-1) lost a four-round split decision to Joe Mezawa (2-2).

Middleweight Tanighi (1-0, 1 ko) stopped Beijing (0-2) at 1:20 in the second round of the scheduled four rounds. Nakamura Kuniko was a judge.
