Republican lawmakers cheered on the effort and described it as an “incredible opportunity” to showcase the strength, discipline and teamwork of the US military.
“It is an honor to support service members in our country’s capital,” said R-Ga. Senator Marjorie Taylor Greene wrote in the X-Post. “Thank you to all men and women in uniform for your dedication and service to our country!”

But Democrats have mostly criticised the Army celebrations, citing the costs, claiming it was an excuse to celebrate Trump’s birthday.

“Our Service Members Newsom wrote in X: “We are proud of the brave men and women who serve the US military. They dedicated their lives to something bigger than themselves. Today they have to be about them. Not Donald Trump.”
Minutes later, Newsom’s Press Office posted a photo of the event and captioned, “This is the biggest presidential birthday party ever.”

Despite the divisive rhetoric about the event, the US Army stated that the parade “remindes us that we were always there for America. We always do so. This is what we protect.”
