The best flashlight for 2025: Make sure there is light
How bright do you want the light to be?
Your own eyes and camera flashlight can do a lot of good work if you are worried about hidden cameras.
The obvious use of a flashlight is to brighten up dark areas and control where the light goes. However, excessively bright light in small areas can be effective to make it as difficult as darkness. It is important to get the light at the right brightness level and you can check the lumen rating to see how bright or dark your flashlight will be.
The higher the lumen, the brighter the light. Flashlights generally land between 20 and 3,500 lumens, but the average power for general use is usually in the 100 lumen range and illuminates objects between 20 and 30 feet. However, some flashlights offer a variety of lumens and allow you to control how bright your light is.
Light source type
Flashlight bulb types can play a major role in many factors, such as brightness, bright colors, and battery life. Flashlights come in three common types of light sources: LED, Incandescent and Krypton. Incandescent bulbs are very similar to your standard bulb I had or had it in your house. Inside the glass is a filament that gets hot when electricity passes through and produces light and heat.
More modern flashlights use either LED or Krypton bulbs. With LEDs, or light emitting diodes, the option produces very bright light, uses less energy and emits little heat. LEDs have a much longer lifespan than incandescent bulbs. The Krypton bulb works similarly to the incandescent bulb, but the glass fixtures are filled with a mixture of Crypton and Xenon gas, allowing the filament to pass through.
For many reasons mentioned above, LED lights are the most common. These lights can be a little more expensive than other lighting types, but they last longer in the long run, longer last longer than other lighting, and can be used with each charge.
What kind of beam do you need?
Another factor to consider when choosing a flashlight is the style of the light beam you need. The three main beam types are flood, spot and adjustable. Flood beams work best for looking at small rooms and objects close to you. If you want to see something more specific or far away, you’ll need a spot beam. But to get the most out of both worlds, consider adjustable beams so you can change from floods to anything in between.
