The 2024-25 NFL season is officially featured in the book, and the Philadelphia Eagles are your Super Bowl champion.
Philadelphia dominated the entire game, and the final score didn’t show how biased the contest was. After all, KC didn’t get on the board until after falling 34-0.
The big game is now in the rearview mirror. Let’s take a look at the most important takeaways of Super Bowl Lix.
The Eagles were the best team in the NFL this year
Some franchises have had cases where they were the best teams in the NFL. The Detroit Lions won the best season in franchise history with a 15-3 record, but despite their home field advantage, their performance fell in the playoffs and lost to Washington’s manager. The Kansas City Chiefs have returned to the Super Bowl for the third year in a row, but people just remember the beatdowns they struggled in the big game. The Buffalo Bills arrived at the AFC Championship, with quarterback Josh Allen earning the MVP, but the Bills Mafia haunting for years if they lose to the Chiefs in the postseason.
Really, the best team in the National Football League this year was the Super Bowl champions Philadelphia Eagles. They were one of the four best teams in the league during the regular season and were easily the best teams in the playoffs. Therefore, Philadelphia should be considered the best team in the NFL this season, uncontroversial.
Sometimes the best teams can’t win the Super Bowl, but that wasn’t the case here. With an 18-3 record, the Eagles have won the most team in the league this season. Philadelphia had top 10 offenses (7th in each game) and top 10 defenses (second in each game’s points). These units were even better in the playoffs (first got offense and third on the scoring defense).
The Eagles are the best team in the NFL and should be considered a favorite to win the Super Bowl LX in Santa Clara, California next year.
This season was a failure for the chief
Typically, the 17-2 record and a Super Bowl appearance are considered a successful season for the other 31 NFL teams. But that applies to the Chief of Kansas City.
It’s not enough to just join the big game after consecutive Super Bowl wins. Players, coaches and fans were hoping that KC would become the first team to win three straight Lombardi trophies. But the dream is now dead and it may never see the chiefs running like this again.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m sure KC and Patrick Mahomes will return to the Super Bowl. I no longer think they’ll tie up three Super Bowl wins in a row. Hell, I don’t know if I’ll see it in my lifetime.
I don’t trust the chief’s dynasty. They have still won three Super Bowls in the past six years. This is one of the best runs I’ve ever seen in the National Football League. But with that in mind, the only way this season was to be considered a success. That was the case when KC became the first team to win three straight Lombardi Trophys. I think this season was a failure for the mayor because they didn’t meet these expectations.
Kansas City had a good team this year, but they never looked great. Despite their records, the Chiefs were not defensive and not good (4th in scoring), and an offensive midfielder (15th in scoring). If they put up flashy numbers and looked like the best offense and defensiveness in the NFL all season, this loss would be a little more palatable. But I think this is a failed season for KC, given that this was a statistically unsatisfactory year and that they weren’t three peats.
Pay tribute to Jalen Hurts’ name
Starting to talk about Jalen hurts the way he talks about Patrick Mahomes, Josh Allen, Joe Burrow and Lamar Jackson. If the NFL quarterback’s measurement stick is winning, the Hurts is the worst-case NFL’s second-best quarterback behind Mahomes.
Since entering the National Football League, Hurts has won 46 games with 66 regular season start. This corresponds to the NFL quarterback’s record-highest mark with at least 60 starts, 0.697% win rate. He also improved to 6-3 in the postseason, earning Super Bowl MVP honors last night and becoming one of two active quarterbacks to win that award.
His passing yard in the playoffs may have been in low end, but the painful pain still ended the year when he tied the league’s lead with Jayden Daniels and Patrick Mahome with a postseason pass touchdown (5). Tacking five more rushing touchdowns, he’s seen the most prolific scoring quarterback of the 2025 NFL playoffs. Patrick Mahomes was the most painful QB of seven postseason TDS.
The most frightening part about all of this: Hurts is only 26 years old. He’s not even 27, but he’s already gone to two Super Bowls and won one of them. When you ask Seahawks and Packers fans, it’s hard to win multiple Super Bowls. After you win, you are not even guaranteed to return to another. However, the Hurts are on contract until the end of the 2026-27 season, with the Eagles poised for another run next season.
I feel this isn’t the last time I’ll see Jalen Hurts roll up the Lombardi trophy. In the meantime, we start looking at Hurts as the equivalent of Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen.
Saquon Barkley ran the best season ever
We all knew that Saquon Barkley was extremely talented. However, his skills were wasted by the New York giants. If Giants general manager Joe Shane had been running around a lot of money Berkley asked about in the offseason, he would be a New York loser, not a Super Bowl champion in Philadelphia.
I think it’s safe to say that with the Super Bowl Lix victory, Saquon Barkley has completed the best year he’s ever seen from a running back.
During the regular season, Berkley ran for 2,005 yards in 16 games, returning to the ninth in NFL history and running over 2,000 yards in one season. If Berkley played in Week 18, he could have broken Eric Dickerson’s single-season rushing record for 2,105 yards.
But at the end of the day, it was a wise decision for Berkley to start his final regular season game. This allowed Berkley to rush for 499 yards in the postseason, bringing his rush total for 2,504 yards in the singleseason. This represents the new NFL singleseason rushing record, surpassing Hall of Fame Terrell Davis, who ran for 2,476 yards in the 1998-99 regular season and playoffs.
When you ask Saquon, he won’t tell you that he cares about breaking the record quickly. The only thing he was interested in was winning his first Super Bowl.

This was a bad Super Bowl
The dust has settled down, so if you’re not a Philadelphia Eagles fan, I think you can admit that Super Bowl Ricks is an unforgettable one.
There were some issues with the 2025 Super Bowl. First and most importantly, the game was boring. It was basically blown away overall. The Chiefs scored two touchdowns in the final three minutes of the contest. Prior to these TDs, the score was 40-6. It’s not a barn burner with stretches of imagination.
The game wasn’t even a blow-off of epic proportions. The 18-point victory is tied to the 16th-largest victory margin in the Super Bowl. If KC hadn’t scored these late TDs, it would have been the fifth-largest point differentiation in Super Bowl history.
The commercials were not great. Even the halftime show was fine. Kendrick Lamar did a great job, but if you weren’t a rap music fan, that halftime show probably wouldn’t have appealed much.
Between Blowouts, Saw-So Halftime Show and inactive commercials, Super Bowl Ricks was one of the worst Super Bowls we’ve had in recent years.
