The FDA recalls more than 2 million donut cases
The Food and Drug Administration has categorized recalls of 60 different donut products at the second highest level, the agency announced earlier this week in an update to its website.
The recall was first announced on January 7th, but was classified as a “Class II Recall” by the FDA on February 5th.
The recalled products were produced by the FGF brand and sold at grocery stores in the US and Canada, according to the FDA’s report on recalls. The total number of recalls is over 2 million cases. Donut’sfritters, patsky, eclairs, munchkins.

All of the products were produced before December 13, 2024 and are “within the expiration date,” the FDA executive report states.
Listeria monocytogen, a bacteria that may be contaminated donutif consumed, can cause listeriosis, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention website said.

“An estimated 1,600 people suffer from listeriosis each year, and about 260 die,” the CDC said.
He said the highest risk of listeria is “pregnant women and their newborns, adults over 65 years old, and people with weakened immune systems.” Other groups “rarely get seriously ill” when exposed to Listeria, the CDC noted.

The fetus is particularly at risk from Listeria, the CDC said.
“Infection during pregnancy results in fetal loss in about 20% of cases and neonatal death in about 3% of cases,” the agency said.

Class II recalls are the second highest classification of FDA recalls, the website says.
