The iPhone messaging app can function like a calculator. This is the way
Mathematical equations are not a strong suit for everyone, and that’s fine. With this iOS 18 Trick, no need to open the calculator app to solve tricky equations. You also don’t need to open Google to search for conversion rates. Instead, you can only use the messaging app.
Before iOS 18, if you want to find a way to split text message groups and bills from afar, you need to use the calculator app or spotlight before switching to message. With iOS 18, you can perform multi-step calculations on messages, convert currency, temperature, etc. without switching apps.

Here’s how to perform calculations on a message:
How to solve a message math problem
To resolve mathematical equations in a message, enter the problem in the text field and add an equal symbol (=) And the solution appears in the predictive text field above the keyboard. Tap the solution to add it to the text.
Messages can be solved by entering them in the text field to solve simple equations such as “2+2 =”. The app can also solve equations that use more complex equations, such as sine, cosine, and tangent trigonometric functions. You need to include equal symbols (=) Whatever happens in the end.
How to convert values in messages
Message value conversion works similarly to solving math problems in your app. Enter a value in the text box using the appropriate value marker – like F in Fahrenheit, LBS in pounds – and enter the equal sign (=), and the conversion will appear in the predicted text field above the keyboard.
If you do not indicate what to convert, predictive text will select what to convert. Don’t worry – it doesn’t try to convert pounds into minutes. The message displays conversions to other similar units, so Fahrenheit is converted to Celsius and pounds are converted to kilograms.
By typing something like “min = from 60 hours, you can choose what to convert, and the message will display the conversion in the predicted text field. This is 3,900 minutes.
