Bobrovsky was supported by a lockdown defense that stopped 19 of the 21 shots he faced, made several key saves when needed, and snatched ice from the Oilers.
Merchand, Bennett and Sam Reinhart provided crime. Marchand joined Mario Lemieux as the only player in the last half-century, scoring more than five goals in the finals, with his 13 career goals in the finals the most active players.
“I enjoy only a moment,” said Merchand, who is in the fourth final and third place since winning the Cup in Boston in 2011.

Conor McDavid scored the first goal of the series after the Oilers were 3-0 behind. Reinhart’s recovered the Panthers’ three-goal lead after 46 seconds, and it was too late for Corey Perry to score with the rest of the 3:13.
Eetu Luostarinen sealed it with an empty netter with 1:19 left, eventually silenced the once fired crowd.
“We had to play the game before,” said Darnell Nurse, the Oilers defensive man. “We can all agree that we can get better in our room.”
Edmonton’s power play went from 0 to 3 to knocking the rest of the top unit from the Panthers’ offensive penalty Kill McDavid, Leon Dry Sightle and normal rhythm.
Calvin Picard lost for the first time in eight starts this spring, allowing four goals with 18 shots. He took part in the bailout, won Game 4 and improved to 7-0 before nodding to Stuart Skinner. This is currently a record of 7-1.

Skinner can return to Game 6, and the Panthers aim to close things down following a trip across another continent returning to the other corner of North America. They are here after blowing a three-goal lead and bounced overtime in Game 4.
“We were pretty good at bounce back every playoff,” said Merchand. “We learned a pretty good lesson in the final game and thought we’d done a better job with this.”
