The Real Madrid striker is eager to leave after falling behind Gonzalo Garcia on Xabi Alonso’s plan
Alvaro Rodriguez admits he must leave Real Madrid for the benefit of his career, but his long-term ambitions remain to make it at the Santiago Bernabeu.
Rodriguez entered the scene in 2023 with a goal against Atletico Madrid in the Derby, but has been struggling with the opportunity for the first team ever since.
He spent last season on loan at Getafe, but managed only two goals in 22 appearances.
Club World Cup Snubs help to supplement Rodriguez’s mind
The 20-year-old was also overlooked at the Club World Cup, with new boss Xabi Alonso winning Gonzalo Garcia.
And now Rodriguez tells Post United, admitting it’s time to move on:
“I will continue along the way with the aim of coming back. My dream is to play for Real Madrid and I will fight to get it, but I have to go out first to do so.
“I may have gone to the Club World Cup, but I understand that they gave Gonzalo the opportunity.”

Barcelona and Manchester United were interested in the young Rodriguez
Rodriguez passed the youth rank at Girona before joining Madrid in 2020.
He added: “When I signed up for Madrid, teams like Espanyol and Barcelona wanted me. My mother told my agent that I was just going to Madrid. They hadn’t called me yet. I think (Manchester) United also called me.
The striker claimed he was struggling with being with his first team in the capital, and preferred the intense training he received with Castila under boss Raul.
“I was just the first team and lost shape,” he said. “In the first team, you train much less than Castila. If you have nearly three games a week, you can’t train much. You have to do everything yourself. You can’t overwork the players in training.
“Raul gave me more strength and I’m physically better.”
