The ring’s welterweight rankings questioned: Why does Pacquiao’s inclusion and Ennis’ retention go against logic?

Manny Pacquiao entered the #9 spot in the ring’s updated welterweight rankings today. The list is There are no two notable namesDevin Haney and Karen Chukazian, both compete at a much higher level than the 46-year-old Pacquiao.

Other missing names from the updated rankings of the ring: Rolando ‘Rolly’ Romero and Jack Catterall. Those fighters deserve to be on the list.

Ennis Walter level confusion

The updated rankings of the ring still include Jaron’s “boots” Ennis as the champion, despite him moving to the age of 154 and already ranked in the category. If they had time to include Pacquiao on their list, that doesn’t make sense as they could have removed Ennis.

Pacquiao didn’t look well enough to be included in the ring’s top 10 list in a 12-round draw against WBC 147-pound champion Mario Barrios. He was old and past that, only able to compete hard in the first nine rounds against the weakest link among the welterweight champions. Manny’s inability to control Barrios was reason enough to not include him.

Barrios: Why is he ranked?

Barrios should not be on the top 10 ring list. Because he appears poor in his final two fights, fighting a draw with Journeyman Abel Ramos, failing to defeat him past his Prime Pacquiao.

Other names not on the top ten list of rings: Giovanni Santillan and Alexis Rocha. These two fighters aren’t worth even in the top 15.
