The State Department will omit “Armorned Tesla” from its 2025 budget procurement
President Donald Trump and Elon Musk will release the Government Efficiency Bureau’s goals from the oval office.
One of his top collectors is the State Department’s budget as Elon Musk, now leader of Tesla, SpaceX and now the Office of Government Efficiency (DOGE) faces recent criticism of his role in the Trump administration. It appears to have been reduced from forecast.

Several news organizations report that the December version of the document has line items listed as “armored Teslas” worth $400 million in a five-year contract. The explanation of that requirement has since been changed.
Furthermore, the original line item did not specify what armored Tesla models to be purchased.

In response to the news, Musk posted on X on Thursday: “I’m sure Tesla hasn’t won $400 million. At least no one has mentioned me.”

A State Department spokesperson told Fox News Digital that the original general entry should be read as “electric vehicle maker” and that Tesla and other automakers have not been awarded a government contract.
The spokesman also said the previous administration called on the State Department to explore private companies’ interests to produce armored electric vehicles. In response to that request, a request for disclosure of information was issued, and interest was sought, and at that time only one company was notified.
As a next step in that process, a State Department spokesman added that official solicitations will be sent to the car manufacturers for bidding. However, the solicitation is “pending and there are no current plans to issue it.”
According to its website, the State Department’s forecast is updated annually in the first quarter of the fiscal year.
