The thread officially moves to threads.com and updates its web app
Instagram threads, Meta’s latest social networks, X’s competitors Officially Go to threads.com from the website threads.net. This transition coincides with the low number of quality of life improvements for threaded web apps. Custom feedsaved posts, likes, other tools to create new columns, copy posts for redistrising, find X’s favorite creators on threads, and more.
I had the meta I started it first The new social app in the URL thread in July 2023 is because an alternative startup supported by Sequoia owned the Threads.com domain at the time. (That startup Sell on Shopify last year. )
September 2024, Meta I got threads.com domain name and later I’ve started redirecting url threads.com to threads.net.
Starting today, Meta explains that users will no longer be redirected to .net from .com. That’s the opposite.
From now on, if you enter threads.com in your browser, you will be taken directly to the thread home screen without being redirected. Meanwhile, those who enter threads.net will be redirected to the url threads.com.
With this change, Meta will provide more prominent and memorable URLs for social apps that have now reached over 320 million active users at the time of Meta’s last public interest announcement in January. Some brands may allow apps to compete better with rival X.
In addition to the changes, Instagram head Adam Mosseri announced on Thursday several other minor updates that appear in the threaded web app that creators often use.
He said custom feeds will now appear in web apps in the same order that users see on mobile apps. Additionally, instead of creating and viewing pinned columns, users will be able to access their favorite and saved posts through the main menu.

Another new addition allows users to copy threaded posts as images instead of taking screenshots. This makes it easy to share threaded posts with other apps like Instagram thinks.
Thread users can now add columns by clicking on the new column icon on the right side of the screen.

You can also click the “+” button at the bottom right to open a new window and create a post.

There is also a new feature that allows people to find and follow the same creators they previously followed in X. This feature was introduced Early this month It works by having the user download an archive of X data and uploading it to a thread.
Those who previously accessed the feature were shown with a pop-up saying, “You can find popular creators from X.” This feature remains in testing, Meta says.
