The Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3 Headphones are great for gaming and have one big compromise

Turtle Beach is not a stranger to the good Game headset. As far as my friends are concerned, if you want to be considered a “serious” gamer, they were essential. Company’s Stealth 700 Gen 3 I’m sitting right below it Stealth Pro It offers impressive features of the line and $200. For starters, the headphones come with multiple wireless transmitters and Bluetooth in addition to the large 60mm driver. The PC version also includes the 24-bit audio option, unfortunately, at the expense of Xbox compatibility.

Speaking of compatibility, non-24-bit versions work on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Bluetooth devices such as mobile phones and Nintendo Switches. The cross-play button on the right earcup allows you to instantly switch the wireless transmitter. You can also stream audio simultaneously from Bluetooth-connected devices and wireless transmitters. This allows you to listen to epic playlists from your phone while dominating the battlefield.

My favourite Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3

The ear cups are very comfortable. The cushion is a memory foam and is covered in leather material that will not cause discomfort or hot for me during long periods of wear. Turtle Beach also has “Prospec” technology, which is thought to be glasses-friendly. As a spectacularly covered gamer, I appreciate how comfortable they are while wearing my glasses. The other headsets I was wearing were not that kind.

The microphone is cleverly hidden in the left earcup and is automatically tweaked when pulled down. For the Gen 3, Turtle Beach added AI-assisted noise reduction to the microphone. I haven’t played many multiplayer games so I couldn’t test it while playing. Judging from my experience with some video calls, I think it works. I’m not saying it’s significantly better than what other companies do, but I’m good at what it does.

The left earcup also has a power button, a USB-C charging port and two control wheels. One of them can be redisplayed. There is also a remapping mode button that toggles Turtle Beach’s superhuman hearing modes by default, increasing the sound of gunfire and footsteps. The right earcup has a Bluetooth pairing button, a Bluetooth volume control wheel, and a cross-play button for switching between sources.

Things I don’t like about the Turtle Beach Stealth 700 Gen 3

As my colleague Lori Grunin pointed out to her Stealth Pro Review, having a single Bluetooth button could be a double-edged sword. Bluetooth headphones automatically connect to recently connected devices, so the headphones are always jumping back and forth between devices. Therefore, treatment may take a little time at the start of a play session.

To be honest, it took me a while to learn all of them using all the buttons and controls on the Stealth 700. Sometimes it was annoying. You need to remember which device’s wheel control volume. Sometimes it hits when you try to readjust your headset. What I really liked was the master volume wheel that reduced everything at once.

Oddly, I noticed that the power indicator light around the power button flashes rapidly While it’s on Instead of leaving it green. I couldn’t see it, so it wasn’t a breakaway to me, but it seemed to be the opposite of what the flashing light on the other gear meant.

These large screwdrivers and extra cushioned ear cups have some drawbacks. The Stealth 700 is a bit heavy. It never made me uncomfortable or painful, but I can quickly feel them even with slight head movements. I was always conscious that they were on my head and I had to be aware that I would never move my head too fast.

It could be a bigger contract breaker for some people, and what has become a more problem for me the longer I use them is that there are no active noise cancellations of any kind. lots of Much cheaper headphones that offer noise cancellationnot a gaming headset, but that seems to be a drawback to the price of the Stealth 700. Also, although I liked to use these headphones as daily headphones, it can be difficult to work in a coffee shop without noise cancellation.

The lack of noise cancellation could help Turtle Beach’s claim that the Stealth 700 will get up to 80 hours of battery life. This is very impressive for a gaming headset like this. 80 hours may be technically achievable, but battery life will not be that high. For me, the fee lasted about two weeks while playing games on an average of 2-3 hours a day. Turtle Beach also claims that it can give you 3 hours of game time in about 15 minutes.

Button and EQ customizations are done in the Turtle Beach Swarm II app. This also allows you to adjust your microphone level, chat settings, and other typical game adjustments. But this software is sometimes a bit confusing and glitches. I had a hard time recognizing the 700 headset several times, especially when connected via Bluetooth.

Should I buy a Stealth 700 Gen 3?

The third generation of the Stealth 700 headset is a major upgrade from the Gen 2, offering quite a few important features than other headsets at this price. If you’re in the market for new gaming headsets, the Stealth 700 offers everything you can ask for, then some…except noise cancellation.
