White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt said Amazon was taking “hostile political action” by showing tariff costs next to the price of the item.
The White House on Tuesday responded to reports that Amazon would soon display how much president it would Donald Trump’s Tariffs add the cost of each item sold on the site and call the e-commerce giants “hostile and political acts.”
White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt was asked by a reporter during a press conference along with Treasury Secretary Scott Bescent.
“This is an adversarial and political act by Amazon,” Leavitt said. “Why didn’t Amazon do this when the Biden administration hiked inflation to its highest level in 40 years?”
