The White House warns against tariff retaliation, Trump says he has a steel spine
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt on Tuesday claimed that “all options are on the tables of the country” when it comes to conducting the latest deals over US tariffs, but President Donald Trump warned that “there is a steel spine and he won’t break.”
Leavitt said 70 countries have already contacted the president to begin negotiations since the announcement of Trump’s “liberation day” tariffs.
“On the other hand, countries like China that are trying to retaliate and double the abuse of American workers are making mistakes. President Trump has a steel spine so he won’t break,” Levitt added. 34% retaliation tariff China announced last week to the US.
Leavitt told Jackie Heinrich, senior White House correspondent at Fox News, that Trump is “very focused on ensuring that these transactions are suitable for American workers.”

“All options are available at tables in each country,” she said. “But again, these will be Taylormade deals, and they won’t fall off the rack deal, as the president called it.
Leavitt also said, “The country is falling into itself to reform unfair trade practices and open the markets freely to our country.

“Why? Because these countries have great respect for the pure power of President Trump and the American market. They find themselves becoming filthy rich over the past decades by imposing significant tariffs on American-made products and substantial tariffs on outrageous non-financial barriers that block the American industry,” she continued. “The jig is up. Past US presidents will sit by their side to make this happen. President Trump He rose up for our country. And he hasn’t said it anymore. ”

“The President’s message is simple and consistent from the beginning of the world. He brings us your best offers and he listens. It will only be done if they benefit American workers and deal with the crippling trade deficits in our country,” declared Leavit. “The US doesn’t need other countries as much as other countries need us, and President Trump knows this. He is trying to use our market and our country’s leverage to the benefit of those sworn in to represent him.”
