Tim Bradley warns Errol Spence Jr. against Virgil Ortiz Jr. Comeback: Neurological Concerns and Inactivity Risks
Tim Bradley says it’s a bad idea for Errol Spence Jr. to come out of retirement to fight Virgil Ortiz Jr. next. He believes that with neurological symptoms, 35-year-old former unified welterweight champion Spence (28-1, 22 KOs) will have no chance to beat Virgil Jr. in 2023 in a fight with Terrence Crawford.
Spence’s health, inactivity concerns
Physically, Spence has turned his eyes in three battles since the 2019 car accident. He made things worse by leaving the ring for a long period of time between battles.
Spence’s inactivity since 2019
- To Sean Porter (December 2020) in September 2019: 14 months
- Danny Garcia (December 2020) to Jordinis Ugas (April 2022): 16 months
- Yorkenis Ugas (April 2022) to Terence Crawford (July 2023): 15 months
Spence reportedly has a net worth of $15 million, much less than the net worth of today’s younger fighters like Ryan Garcia. If Turki Alalshikh is involved, a conflict with Vergil Jr. will pay well.
“I’m listening to Spence (is coming out of retirement). Errol Spence, don’t come back unless you need money. You don’t need it. You don’t need boxing. channelresponds to rumors that former unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. will be coming out of retirement.
I understand why Spence wants to return to the ring now. He probably notices the money that Turki Aralsiv is paying for the fighters and wants to take part in the action. The comeback fight with Vergill Ortiz Jr. may pay even better than his final fight in 2023 against Terrence Crawford. Erol carried the promotion as much as a major star as Crawford was less popular than he is now thanks to Turki.
Why Spence needs “Turki Money”
“In the end, it’s going to be your decision, like Manny Pacquiao and everyone else. I’m out of woodworking and looking for money for that Torki. If you need money, I understand that, but for your health,” Bradley said. We saw your gate. It means your nervous system and how you did before fighting Crawford. ”
Spence was a billionaire from the battle with Crawford. Unless he had infused money in two years, he was out of the ring, but he still has to be very wealthy with enough fabric to live comfortably in Texas for the rest of his life. He purchased a large 60-acre ranch in DeSoto, Texas, after a car accident following a fight with Sean Porter in 2019.
Spence continues to have neurological problems
“It won’t go away. You can hold it down for a minute, but it’ll come back soon,” Tim said of Spence’s neurological issues. “You probably feel good, walk around, train, take care of yourself, do that, because if you get to the ring with Virgil Ortiz, that’s not a good thing. He’s trying to turn your a** into a chicken nugget.
It’s a bad move to Errol come back and jump straight into a dangerous battle with WBC junior middleweight champion Vergil Ortiz Jr. Even with one or two warm-up fights, facing 27-year-old Ortiz Jr. would be a dangerous move for Spence. If he was in his mid- to late 20s, it wasn’t a problem fighting Vergil Jr., he stripped him with his power. But at age 35, it’s not a good fight for Errol to end well.
Spence is no longer a “big fish”
“I know you’re a big fish. You’re no longer a big fish. You might be one of those guppies, a guy, but you’re not a big fish anymore,” Bradley said of Errol. “Back back, wear your heart on your sleeves and don’t try to prove things to someone who doesn’t need tuning. If you’re coming back, you should do it right. Adjust yourself. Absolutely do it.”
Spence hasn’t been the type to tune up after taking a long break from the ring since 2019. In his last three fights, he had been in action for over a year. His performance level appeared to have fallen from each fight that looked like a shell faded for a match against Crawford in 2023. And we will not live our lives by maintaining form.
Bradley bets on Ortiz Jr.’s victory
“If you’re back and fight Vergil Ortiz, certainly, I’m spending money on Vergil Ortiz. He’s trying to stop you, Spence. I promise you,” Bradley said.
It would be a difficult battle for Spence to go back to 35 than his final match against Terrence Crawford and face Vergill Jr. Ortiz Jr. is much younger, hit harder than Bud and puts non-stop pressure on Spence. He has not fought such a person since his clash with Shaun Porter in 2019 six years ago. OrtizJr. is a bigger puncher and throws more shots than Porter.
