According to Apple’s release notes: iOS 18.4.1 Patch two security vulnerabilities. There is one vulnerability Core AudioApple’s digital audio infrastructure for iOS.
“Processing an audio stream with a malicious media file can cause code to run,” Apple writes in relation to a core audio vulnerability. Code execution allows third parties to steal data and hack devices for other creepy purposes.
Other vulnerabilities with update patches RPACsecurity measures that Apple uses to protect against the exploitation of memory corruption bugs. Apple writes that malicious actors with any read ability could bypass this security measure. Memory corruption can lead to compromise your system and someone stealing or leaking your data.
Apple writes that both of these vulnerabilities could be used in targeted attacks against certain individuals. While it may not be the intended target for these attacks, you should download the update now to make sure you and your data are the most protected.
Apple also writes that iOS 18.4.1 fixes a rare issue that allows certain vehicles to prevent wireless carplay connections.
