Justin Jefferson will be out for a while

Minnesota Vikings head coach Kevin O’Connell said superstar wide receiver Justin Jefferson will miss out on several days of practice with a “mild” hamstring injury. He will be reassessed next week.

“It’s true, I’m fine after that catch.” Jefferson told Sports Illustrated. “But I’m only having a little bit of tension. Of course I’ve had recent injuries and experiences before in the past. I just understand that it’s not the 30th day, but the second day of camp as a precaution.

Jordan Hicks will retire after 10 seasons

Jordan Hicks, 33-year-old Cleveland Browns linebacker, announced on social media that he has retired from the NFL after 10 seasons in the league. He played for four teams and collected a total of 952 tackles.

“After 23 years of playing football, I’ve officially retired from the NFL.” Hicks said in an Instagram post.. “I give you everything I had and leave in peace knowing that the best hasn’t come yet.”

Tampa Bay Sign Michael Jordan (No, not Michael Jordan)

Just a day after Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles said the team was about to add another offensive lineman. The team signed former Cincinnati Bengals guard Michael Jordan. Since being drafted in 2019, he has appeared in 67 games and has started 40 times.

Noah Fant is in a big easy

Tight end and former round Picknorr Phant were in New Orleanscoach Kellen Moore said earlier today. At the time of this writing, he remains signed.

The Fant was released by the Seattle Seahawks earlier this week. He was originally drafted by the Denver Broncos in 2019 and then traded with the Seahawks in a deal that sent Russell Wilson to Denver. Last season, in Seattle, Fant caught 48 passes with 500 receiving yards and one touchdown.

Notable injuries and injuries updates

Cleveland Browns

  • He’s starting to run Jerome Ford, but head coach Kevin Stefanski says he’s “advanced” and thinks Ford is “close” to return to practice.

Dallas Cowboys

  • According to Jane Slater of the NFL Network, the right tackle Terence Steel had a higher ankle sprain. He is expected to miss “a few days” of training camp.

Detroit Lions

Jacksonville Jaguar

  • Newly acquired offensive lineman Patrick Mekari is currently dealing with back convulsions, but according to coach Liam Cohen, he’s fine.

New York Giants

  • Jalin Hyatt, a third-year wide receiver, had to miss practice today after experiencing “lower body cramps and tension on Thursday.”

New York Jets

  • Just a day after dislocating one of his toes, quarterback Justin Fields returned to practice but did not participate in the drill. He is still listed as a day, coach Aaron Glenn told reporters.
