Chicago will immediately name the left tackle
Head coach Ben Johnson said He plans to name the team’s starting left tackle before the Bears’ first preseason game. It is scheduled for August 10th, according to NFL.com. Braxton Jones started 12th last year with a left tackle in Chicago. The Bears also used a two-round pick from offensive tackle Ozie Rapiro during the 2025 NFL Draft after trading with Joe Tohney.
The charger reveals who is coming and going on Thursday
Quarterback Justin Herbert comes out of the Hall of Fame game. That means Traylans will be the Los Angeles starter on Thursday night. Lance could play the entire first half and part of the third quarter.
Rookie running back and one-round draft pick Omarion Hampton will play in the game. Wide receivers Rudd McConkey and Quentin Johnston will not play Thursday night. Meanwhile, Zion Johnson will become the team’s starting center.
The Lions don’t have full power safety for the HOF game
First-team All-Pro Safety Kirby Joseph, who was also the league leader for the 2024 intercept, will not play in Detroit’s preseason game on Thursday due to “knee stimulation.” Joseph is scheduled to return to practice on Saturday.
Gang Green finds the kicker
On the same day they abandoned kicker Cadden Davis, the New York Jets announced they had signed Place Kicker Nick Falk, who played for Gang Green from 2010 to 2016.
Colts expands Bernhardreimann
Indianapolis Colts agreed to a four-year, $100 million contract extension with left tackle Bernhartrainmanaccording to Mike Galaforo of NFL Network Insider. The Colts confirmed the extension early todayhowever, they did not announce the length or financial terms of the transaction.
“Bernhard has worked very hard, and this contract extension is a testament to his character, dedication and tenacity,” general manager Chris Ballard said in a statement. “He illustrates each of our team’s four pillars and is the leader of our locker room. I am excited about this proper contract extension for him and his family.”
Notable injuries and injuries updates
Baltimore Ravens
- Tight end Isaiah is likely to have rolled his ankle during practice and will have an MRI tomorrow. John Harbaugh said he would probably miss a few weeks.
- After dealing with a knee injury yesterday, cornerback Jay Alexander returned to practice today.
Buffalo Bills
- Cornerback and first round draft pick Maxwell Hairston left early practice to check out his knees.
Detroit Lions
- Cornerback Teleorion Arnold, who had to practice due to an injury last week, left us with today’s training camp session where he was evaluated for hamstring issues.
Kansas City Chiefs
- Wide receivers Hollywood Brown (ankle) and Skymoor (hamstring) left today’s practice early due to injuries.
Los Angeles Chargers
- Wide receiver Rudd McConkey skipped practice today as he handles what Coach Jim Harbaugh describes as minor injuries.
Miami Dolphins
- Safety Ashtyn Davis finished training early with a lower limb injury. He later returned in crutches and walking boots.
New England Patriots
- Cornerback Christian Gonzalez was stopped from training due to a leg injury.
New York Giants
- He left practice early to get a shoulder examination, but wide receiver Malik Nabers appears to be fine.
Philadelphia Eagles
- Wide receiver Devonta Smith, linebacker Zack Baun, linebacker Nolan Smith and safety Andrew Mukuba missed practice today due to injuries.
- Center Cam Jurgens and linebacker Jihad Campbell were actually limited due to injuries.
San Francisco 49ers
- First round draft pick Michael Williams was out of today’s practice with a minor ankle issue.
