Trans Athlete Battle: School Board asks Trump to force trans bang in blue state
a Washington Education Committee The state sued federal intervention to force the state to ban trans athletes from women’s sports.
The Kennewick School Board filed a Title IX complaint this week with the U.S. Department of Education’s Civil Rights Office against the oversight of public leadership in Washington.
Complaint It includes a plea for “urgent” federal intervention against President Donald Trump’s recent executive order “exclude men from women’s sports.”
“We respectfully request emergency federal intervention due to the open and terrible Title IX violations currently occurring within state student athletics and necessary school district policies mandated by the state that directly violates Title IX,” the complaint states.

“We are particularly concerned about the openly discriminatory policies and orders by Washington. Principal Lakedal, Ospi and WIAA not only directly harm young women, but also put important federal funds in our district at risk.
The school board has been caught up in conflict as the Trump administration ordered all public schools to ban trans athletes from girls’ sports and risk losing federal funds.
“The restrictions imposed by this state erode trust between schools and families and unfairly violate the precious fundamental rights of parents that guide the development of their children,” the complaint continues.
“Our school board addressed this by trying to truly find the middle ground between state mandate and the fundamental role of parents. We did so by slightly amending a state-duty policy that should not anger a reasonable person. Still, it appears that Ospi employs State Department oversight, where our slight amendments have angered the law (as Ospi interpreted it).
Reykdal previously claimed that it was “inaccurate” to say that there were only two genders in the video address in late February.
“Biologically, it’s very inaccurate to say that there are only boys and only girls,” Lakedal said. “There is a continuum, there is science in this. Born in Intersex. Some children have no matching hormones and chromosomes with their sex at birth.
“Our state laws make it clear that children can identify and participate based on the gender they identify. We support that law.”

Lakedal also argued that Trump has no authority to ban trans-athletes in women’s sports, but he has allowed the US Congress to do so.
Another school district in Washington chose to take the issue into its own hands in late February and ignore the state government.
Tumwater School District’s The board voted February 3-2 to ban women’s sports teams from playing after a nationally published controversy, including one of the school’s girls’ basketball teams.
Civil Rights A complaint has been filed On behalf of a Washington state teenage girl, along with the U.S. Department of Education’s Civil Rights Office, she was allegedly punished for refusing to play a basketball game with a trans athlete.
According to the complaint, Tumwater School District In Washington On February 7, 15-year-old Francis Stoast is investigating how he “mistakes” the other party and violates district policies due to violating district policies against bullying and harassment.
The issue of trans-inclusion has been very concerning for Washington residents, and in December the WIAA announced its proposal to create another open division for transgender athletes to compete.
The proposal comes weeks after the Central Valley Board of Education, which oversees schools in Spokane Valley and Lake Liberty, Washington, and after much discussion at the school board meeting, he voted to send a message to the WIAA on the issue.
